Maximizing Your Disaster Cost Recovery

A disaster response may only last a few days or weeks, but the disaster cost recovery process typically goes on for years. In some cases the cost recovery will last for decades. Ironically information about getting through this long, drawn out recovery period is rarely available. Public agencies can and often do lose millions of dollars because they are not prepared to deal with the complex requirements of disaster cost recovery.

The Office of Emergency Management is coordinating the delivery of this unique 2 day training to learn how to prepare for this challenging, but critically important activity.

This program is designed for finance staff, emergency service coordinators, purchasing agents, risk managers and all staff who will be involved in tracking disaster response and recovery costs. This program includes activities designed to:

Provide insight into the interpretation of federal disaster regulations
Show the importance of properly completing and documenting required paperwork
Foster networking and information with finance staff

Multnomah County Departments are requested to limit staff to 2-5 participants relative to the size of their department. For possible exceptions contact Daniel Nibouar -
